After years of operating with several serious functional issues, MADACC made the decision to proceed with a major remodeling and addition. Operational challenges included excessive noise, lack of natural daylight, an uncontrollable HVAC system, animal health issues and staff efficiency.
The design solution addressed all issues, including introduction of natural daylight into the kennel areas of the building, enlarging existing kennels for dogs and cats, installation of new kennels with glass panel doors to prevent spread of disease, a new waste removal system, storage areas in each kennel area to improve staff efficiency, a modern, efficient HVAC system, creation of an outdoor exercise yard and redesign of the surgical suite. The multi-phased remodeling was accomplished while maintaining ongoing operations.
